Law Practice

An original founder of the firm, Steve represents clients in personal injury and wrongful death matters as well as in a variety of other cases involving insurance claims connected with injuries. Steve brings considerable expertise to the negotiation and settlement of claims and his substantial experience in the courtroom allows him to assist clients with any matters which require litigation in Federal and State Courts. He also advises clients on matters pertaining to business and probate.

Experience

  • Deputy District Attorney for Lane County, Oregon (1967-70)
  • Adjunct Professor of Law, Trial Practice Seminar, University of Oregon Law School (various years)
  • Judge Pro Tem for Lane County and Marion County Courts
  • Private practice of law representing clients in Eugene, Oregon since 1970

Case Results

  • A client writes: "I want to thank you for the work you have done on my personal injury settlement. The results have far exceeded my expectations. This is primarily due to your legal expertise, knowledge of the insurance industry and personal negotiating skills. And you have done all of this with compassion and respect for the parties involved."

  • Negotiated a settlement for one million dollars ($1,000,000) for the wife and child of a construction worker who was killed on the job.

  • Brought to trial and then secured a settlement during trial for a young paramedic left brain damaged after his ambulance was struck by a truck with a non-repaired braking system. Mr. Hutchinson was able to set up a “structured settlement” which pays lifetime income for his care.

  • Secured compensation for the pain and suffering and payment of medical bills after filing a lawsuit for a client who was seriously injured when a hazardous condition created by a display at a store caused him to fall and re-damage a previously existing degenerative condition.
